We all have day dreams of better times. We want a world where we can experience the desire simply to observe it like in Taoism. We still want to have some type of structure in our life like. We are ashamed and embarrassed if our words outrun our work like the Confucianism. And even though we do not want to leave behind the life we worked hard at, we accept that we do not live forever, as the common vampire might, like in Buddhism. We must go where out fate lead us.
We are not everlasting in this body,
We are not forever in one moment.
Just as life must move on,
So shall we.
We must not dwell on one moment,
As if it defines us.
They say when in Rome,
Do as the Romans.
Going with the flow,
enjoying the simple things that you have,
and always have a back-up plan, structure baby.

I like your vampire reference! I thought it was a cute way to prove your point. Good job (:
ReplyDeleteKemoy this was great blog! I really connected with your daydreaming reference, as I find that I daydream a lot and I'm actually really good at controlling my daydreams and dreams at night. Fate is a very powerful thing, when we believe our fate is a good one, we do anything we can to reach that point. But then if we are scared of our fate or unsure, it becomes hard to simply go with the flow of life because we don't know where that leads.
ReplyDeleteVery poetic, Kemoy. It is nice to take bits and pieces from these religions, like Buddhism and Taoism, and apply their lessons and beliefs to our everyday lives. We can learn things from them in regards to respecting nature and living things and living life happily.
ReplyDeleteKemoy I love the poetic aspect of your blog. I really enjoyed how you took aspects of Buddhist and Taoist beliefs and applied them to our daily life. Its really amazing how applicable they are centuries later!
ReplyDeleteI like how you connected the three religions , Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism, to the common daydream. It is true that when one daydreams, they are often daydreaming of a better time or place. I like that you consider that to be a philosophy.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the reading above. My favorite line is "We must not dwell on one moment as if it defines us". I think that , that line speaks volumes of what our society judges people on. A lot of people are judged on their mistakes , which can be a single moment when they should be judged on the volume of their character rather. I think this is a good blog and I agree with your ideas.
I like your poem, its very cool and creative.. We should always try to move on and live life. Living life to me is doing good to others and to yourself. Religion can't do it for you, neither can God. I daydream of a better world, where war doesn't exist and in some cases, a world where religion was not the core of most wars. I daydream of way more things then the characters of this blog will allow. I should not dwell on these problems, instead I should be finding ways to end it.
ReplyDeleteKemoy, your blog really had me thinking.
I really like this blog post and how you connected it to different philosophies. And like Lily said, I loved the vampire reference, always brings me back to Twilight lol
ReplyDeleteI agree we must all understand that we do not live forever.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem! I loved it!
