The Beauty and the Beast is such a great connection to this story. Princess Bella is forced to live with the beast. Of course at first she is fearful. But after getting to know the beast she grows closer to him and falls in love. Bella could have left the beast or treated him the same way everyone else did but she decides not to.
The traditional vows are: To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'till death do us part. All together this means that no matter what this couple will stick by each others side; through the good and the bad. The wife in the Lay of the Werewolf allowed her fears to overtake her rather than realizing that even though husband was transformed, underneath his appearance he is still the same loving husband she married. But she failed to realize that.

ReplyDeleteI think Princess Bella is a an exaple and should be a role model for the wife in The Lay of the Werewolf. It can be questioned if the wife truly loved her husband in The Lay of the Werewolf. Her duty was to cherish and love, even the ugly of a person. This is a interesting connection between the two you have made Brianna.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! And I love how you used Beauty and the Beauty to connect to a work in school! There's always so much more to Disney stories than we could see as children, and I love seeing new connections I didn't see before.
ReplyDeleteI also connected this to the pursuit of happiness, when will smith's wife leaves him because she thought he couldn't support her financially. When bonding yourself with someone you want and claim to spend the rest of your life with, you have to face both the good and bad no matter how corrupt it may seem. These women did not honor their vows and commit, therefore they lost in the long run. I believe that if its something you can't handle, at least you can say you tried.
